Detecting BSR-infected Oil Palm Seedlings using Thermal Imaging Technique

چکیده

Basal Stem Rot (BSR) is the most destructive disease instigated by a white wood rotting fungus called Ganoderma boninense, which cause great economic setback in oil palm productivity. It attacks basal stem of trees, causing them to slowly rot. also affects xylem tissues that eventually interrupt water transportation upper part palm, turning leaves at frond become yellow. This problem should be prevented during nursery stage separating between healthy and BSR-infected seedling. Therefore, this study focuses on potential use thermal imaging for detecting BSR Thermal images seedling from were captured processed extract several properties seedling, i.e., maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation pixel intensity value. These values then undergone statistical analysis identify its significant different differentiating Several classification models tested including Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Quadratic (QDA), Support Vector Machine (SVM) k-Nearest Neighbour (kNN). Principal Component (PCA) was used reduce dimensionality dataset. The results demonstrated highest accuracy achieved 80.0 % using SVM (fine gaussian) model with PC1 PC3 as input parameter. summarizes trees stage.

Effect of Endophytic Bacteria on Growth and Suppression of Ganoderma Infection in Oil Palm

Basal stem rot (BSR) caused by Ganoderma boninense is an important disease of oil palm in Malaysia. Control of BSR is complex, because the disease occurs in the dynamic environment at the interface of the roots with soil. Endophytes as biocontrol agents offer possible advantages as they invade and proliferate in the plants to await the pathogens and they are insulated from any adverse condition...

Palm oil and palm olein frying applications.

Several million tones of palm oil and palm olein are used annually in the world for frying. This paper will discuss their frying performances in three major applications - industrial production of potato chips/crisps, industrial production of pre-fried frozen French fries and in fast food outlets. In the first study, about four tones of potato chips were continuously fried 8 hours a day and fiv...

Decolorisation of Biologically Treated Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Using Adsorption Technique

An experimental study was conducted on the adsorption of color from biologically treated POME using palm kernel shell (PKS) and empty fruit bunches (EFB) as natural biosorbents, and activated carbon prepared from them by microwave and chemical activation with potassium hydroxide (KOH). BET surface area of all sorbents was determined and 1252 m 2 .g -1 was recorded for activated carbon prepared ...

Superresolution imaging of HIV in infected cells with FlAsH-PALM.

Imaging protein assemblies at molecular resolution without affecting biological function is a long-standing goal. The diffraction-limited resolution of conventional light microscopy (∼200-300 nm) has been overcome by recent superresolution (SR) methods including techniques based on accurate localization of molecules exhibiting stochastic fluorescence; however, SR methods still suffer important ...

Enhancement of Thiamine Biosynthesis in Oil Palm Seedlings by Colonization of Endophytic Fungus Hendersonia toruloidea

Thiamine, or vitamin B1 plays an indispensable role as a cofactor in crucial metabolic reactions including glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway and the tricarboxylic acid cycle in all living organisms. Thiamine has been shown to play a role in plant adaptation toward biotic and abiotic stresses. The modulation of thiamine biosynthetic genes in oil palm seedlings was evaluated in response to ro...
